VyCAPís technology platforms are designed around MicrosieveTM membranes: a very thin perforated membrane with a specifically designed macro perforated support structure to strengthen the thin membrane.

 

Microsieves are produced using silicon micromachining. The pores are well defined by photolithographic methods and anisotropic etching that guarantees excellent uniformity of pore size and shape in a highly reproducible way. The membrane thickness is usually smaller than the pore size in order to keep the flow resistance small (one to three orders of magnitude smaller than other types of filtration membranes).

 

The membrane is microscopically flat, rigid and has a very high chemical and thermal resistance and has no auto-fluorescence.
